From 1951 to 1991
JSC Ceļuprojekts traces its roots back several decades. In 1951, a group of three people - engineers R.Eglitis, H.Nartišs and technician M.Bruskina - were entrusted with the maintenance of Soviet Union roads. In 1955, the Ministry's Road Administration Group was set up in Tukums to service roads of republican importance, represented by engineers G.Binde, R.Jagare and technician V.Žvīgure. In 1956, when the Road Administration of the Republic was reorganised, both design groups were merged and the Road Administration Design Group with 19 employees was established. As the group grew, it had more than 50 employees, and on 2 June 1958, the Latvian State Institute of Road and Transport Enterprise Design "Latdoravtoprojekt" was established on the basis of these specialists, which in 1965 was renamed the Latvian SSR Ministry of Road Transport and Highways Institute "Latgiprodortrans". In 1984, the institute was given the Latvian name of "Ceļuprojekts", an institute of the Ministry of Transport and Road Economy of the Latvian SSR. The 1960s and 1970s were a very fertile time for road construction in Latvia; around 200 engineers worked at "Ceļuprojekts" and developed designs for thousands of kilometers of Latvian roads, many traffic junctions, bridges, road construction bases, construction material extraction and processing plants and other facilities. The national treasure of Latvia's transport infrastructure created at that time still radiates the engineering ingenuity of the "Ceļuprojekts" road engineers.
From 1991 to present
In 1991, the institute was privatized by its employees, establishing a designing consulting company – joint-stock company "Ceļuprojekts". A new period in the history of the company began, which opened up new opportunities for sustainable development. Currently, “Ceļuprojekts” is an independent, one of the leading Latvian companies in the designing of road and transport structures. Highly qualified engineers ensure quality of services using their experience, the latest and most advanced knowledge in the road industry and modern designing and research techniques.
